If you love the outdoors, but don't love all the hasstles of pitching a tent, sleeping on the ground, and of course all that dirt, then you'd probably be more apt to go glamping – otherwise known as glamourus camping – instead of roughing it on your next outdoor adventure.

Get your camp on, but still have some of the usual luxuries of a hotel: a mattress, breakfast, hot showers, and great service. Try a place like Clayquot Wilderness Resort in Vancouver, BC where you can still feel at one with nature, right after your organic cooking lesson at the resort's demonstration kitchen. Who said camping has to be rough?

If you're taking a Staycation, you're taking time off work, but staying in town to chill. However, that doesn't mean that you can't go out and do something. My perfect staycation activities here in SF would be a stop at the brand spankin' new Caifornia Academy of Sciences to check out the penguins, greenhouse, and the in-house planetarium in Golden Gate Park, then catching a movie at the Sundance Kabuki Theater in Japantown, where I can reserve my seats in the balcony lounge area and toss back a martini or two while I feast my eyes on a flick.

A flashier version of a backpacker who keeps costs down by taking trains and group carriers, but spends a little more dough by staying at single room hostles with more amenities. Flat screen TV? Check. Wireless internet? Check. Private bathroom? Oh yeah.

Feeling a little flashpacker-ish yourself? Try out the Lub.d Hostel in Bangkok. They offer several private rooms with rates starting at $40 bucks a night.
